POL: Pakistan to be made real democratic, progressive, moderate, strong
Islamabad, Aug 15 (PPI) - Pakistan's Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani Thursday pledged to make the country real democratic, progressive, prosperous, moderate and strong.
Speaking at ceremony on occasion of 61st Independence Day on Thursday in Islamabad, Gilani said country is passing through a difficult time facing major challenges of extremism, terrorism, price hike, unemployment and power crisis. Every step would be taken to curb terrorism.
Islam preaches tolerance, brotherhood peace and love. The government would never allow terrorists to accomplish their evil designs, he stated.
Gilani said during his recent visit to United States he clearly told U.S. leadership that Pakistan would never allow unilateral action on its soil.
Prime Minister assured Pakistan army is fully capable to protect geographical borders of the country. He said more resources would be provided to armed forces to beef up national defence.
