Price of gold jewellery decreases slightly
VIENTIANE,JAN 13.(KPL)- The price of gold jewellery in Vientiane market is likely to decrease slightly however its price tends to move upward due to a high demand on the world market, said President of the Lao Gem Jewelry Trader Association.
In Vientiane, the current value of one-baht weight (around 15 g) of gold jewelleries is about 5.5 million kip.
On 12 January, the price of gold in Hong Kong was reported to soar by US$7.5 per ounce, pushing the gold price to US$1,384 per ounce.
Mr Phouvong Phamisith, President of the Lao Gem Jewelry Trader Association, said that last year the transaction of gold was not so bad despite price of gold hit a high record.
He continued that the price of gold has tended to further appreciate because investors on the world market have possessed more gold to avoid risks.
