Iranian Air Force to manufacture third generation of Qased missiles

TEHRAN, Jan. 12 (MNA)--The Iranian Air Force planned to manufacture the third generation of guided Qased (messenger) missiles with a range of 100 kilometers.

The new generation, with the help of an engine attached to it, can fly over a distance of 100 kilometers, Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Karshaki of the Air Force on Tuesday.

Karshaki said the 2000-pound missiles are among the strongest missiles in the world.

Iran started designing and manufacturing these missiles during the last years of Iraq’s war against Iran (1980-88 Iran-Iraq war)and today the Islamic Republic is mass-producing the missiles, he added.

Last year Air Force Commander General Hassan Shahsaffi announced that these missiles are capable of flying over a distance of 40 kilometers without being controlled by the pilot.
