OPCW director to visit Tehran in February

TEHRAN, Jan. 12 (MNA) -- Iran’s ambassador to the Netherlands announced on Tuesday that the director of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) will visit Iran in the near future.

Ahmet Uzumcu will visit Tehran in the first week of the Iranian calendar month of Esfand (February 20 to 26), said Ambassador Kazem Gharibabadi, who is also Iran’s envoy to the OPCW.

Based in The Hague, the OPCW is the implementing body of the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC). The OPCW is given the mandate to achieve the object and purpose of the convention, to ensure the implementation of its provisions, including those for international verification of compliance with it, and to provide a forum for consultation and cooperation among states parties.
