Unity accelerates security process in Iraq: Ahmadinejad

TEHRAN, Jan. 12 (MNA) --Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad stated on Monday that solidarity and cooperation among different Iraqi groups would accelerate the process of progress and establishment of security in Iraq.

He made the remarks in a meeting with Iraqi Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Prime Minister Barham Salih in Tehran.

Ahmadinejad said today enemies and occupiers are hopeless because the regional nations are awake and united.

There is no limitation for the development of ties between Tehran and Baghdad, the president said, adding that Iran is seeking to promote cooperation with Iraq in various spheres by utilizing its potential.

Salih also said that Iraq is making efforts to deepen ties with its neighboring countries, and promotion of ties with Iran is of main priority.

He went on to say that security in Iran and Iraq is interlinked, so the Iraqi officials are making efforts to eliminate insecurity in the region.

By strengthening cooperation, regional countries can create a strong “economic and political network” which can serve as a basis for progress and welfare of people, he noted.
