Link between Iran air crash, sanctions
TEHRAN, Jan. 12 (MNA) -- On the link between Sunday’s air crash and the sanctions imposed on Iran , Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast said, “As far as I know the plane did not have a technical problem, but the relevant officials are pursuing the main cause of the crash.”
On Sunday, 78 passengers were killed and 33 were injured in the Iran Air Boeing 727 crash near the city of Urmia in northwestern Iran.
He added, “However, the fact that the Islamic Republic of Iran needs plane parts, and planes are not being sold to Iran is another issue which is directed at Western officials. The countries that claim their purpose of imposing sanctions is not pressuring the Iranian nation are focusing on issues which have a direct effect on our nation.”
