10th Ordinary Session of National Assembly opens
VIENTIANE.14 DEC. (KPL) - The 10th Ordinary Session of the sixth National Assembly was officially opened yesterday under chairmanship of its President Thongsing Thammavong.
Yesterday’s meeting was attended by President Choummaly Sayasone, Prime Minister Bouasone Bouphavanh, ministers, deputy-ministers and NA members.
The 10th ordinary session was the last event of the sixth legislature and would be preparing for the general election of the seventh legislature, which will be held next year, said President of the National Assembly Thongsing at the opening ceremony of the 10th Ordinary Session of sixth National Assembly yesterday.
Mr. Thongsing added that the 10th ordinary session of the sixth National Assembly will be held between 14 and 24 December to debate and approve two amended draft laws on national assembly, the general election to the National Assembly, an amended draft law on addressing economic disputes and a new draft law on metrology.
They will also contemplate on a draft report of the state audit on the result of the state budget audit for 2009-2010, evaluate the previous work of the sixth National Assembly, and discuss future direction of the National Assembly.
A draft plan on the seventh five-year socio-economic development (2011-2015), a master plan on land administration and use and national land policy will be on the top list of discussions.
Most of them are expected to be approved on the final day of the 10th ordinary session of the National Assembly.
Mr. Thongsing has called on lawmakers to share points of view on improving the context of laws.
Yesterday’s meeting, Mr. Douangdy Outthachack, representing the National Assembly members, reported the amended draft laws on national assembly, which comprises 13 chapters and 70 articles in which 28 articles will be improved and six new articles will be debated.
The amendment to the national assembly law is designed to ensure the implementation of role and responsibilities of National Assembly’s members, which represent Lao people and state organisations in the improvement of the performance of the national assembly and enhancement of unity and state power for people’s benefits.
