ASEAN U13 football tournament opens in Danang city
Danang (VNA) - The ASEAN U13 Yamaha Football Cup 2008 opened in central Danang city on August 4 with six teams participating from Indonesia , Malaysia , Singapore , Thailand and Vietnam .
Following the opening ceremony, the first match between Vietnam 1 (SHB Danang) and Thailand took place with a 2-1 win belonging to the host.
Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), Vu Quang Vinh, said the tournament is not only a large, useful and healthy playground for teenage players in Vietnam and other regional countries but also offers a good opportunity for them to exchange experiences and strengthen the friendship among ASEAN countries.
The three-day tournament, being held in Vietnam for the first time, is jointly organised by VFF, the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee, Japan 's Yamaha Motor Corporation and the Danang Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.-Enditem
