Nepal media sees conspiracy behind Nihita-Sobhraj love affair
Kathmandu, Aug 1 (PTI) Nepal’s popular weekly magazine Saptahik smells some game plan in the love affair between 64 year old international criminal Charles Sobhraj and 20 yearold Nepali girl Nihita Bishwas.
The magazine has invented two possible theories workingbehind the much publicised romance.
Either India's intelligence agency RAW is playing a game through Nihita to trap Sobhraj, who is likely to get released from Nepal's central jail soon or Sobhraj might have used Nihita to gain sympathy from Nepalese people so that he can prove his innocence before the court, according to the frontpage report published by Saptahik Friday.
It is believed that government of India's hidden intention has worked behind the unnecessary publicity Nihitais getting from Indian media, the magazine speculates.
Indian intelligence agency might have sent Nihita as its agent to track Sobhraj as soon as he becomes free after the August 10 final hearing in Supreme Court and send him back to India, where he may even get capital punishment for his pastcrimes, it writes.
Both Nihita and Sobhraj have Indian connections.
Sobhraj's father is an Indian while his mother is Vietnamese.
Nihita's father is Bengali from Calcutta while her mother is aNepali.
Nihita's father Nikhil Bishwas, is a musician and her mother Shakuntala Thapa is an advocate, who is currentlylooking after Sobhraj's case.
Nihita also revealed to the magazine that it is Sobhraj who first proposed for love. After seeing an advertisement that Sobhraj needs an interpreter for his French lawyer Isabella Countant-Peyre, Nihita went to the central jail tosubmit an application.
But it was too late as his lawyer had already left Kathmandu. Sobhraj however, asked her to assist him inbringing food in the jail.
After two weeks of regular meeting they were attracted to each other and Sobhraj once asked her "can you become my life partner? And Nihita accepted the proposal," reports the weekly. They had even exchanged engagement rings after gettingconsent from Nihita’s mother Shakuntala.
However, Nihita, claims their love was kept secret in the beginning but later the jail administration brought it to limelight to defame her after she tried to expose the wrongdoings within the jail administration, according to theweekly.
Nihita is confident that he will be released after the final hearing on August 10 and they would fly to Paris where they could start a new married life. PTI
