State leader receives FIFA president

Hanoi (VNA) - State President Nguyen Minh Triet spoke highly of the International Federation of Football Associations (FIFA)'s projects and programmes to help develop Vietnam 's football.

Receiving FIFA President Joseph Blatter in Hanoi on August 1, the Vietnamese leader expressed his hope to receive more support from FIFA aswell as the Asian Football Confederation (AFC).

FIFA President J. Blatter and AFC President Mohamed Bin Hamman are in Vietnam to attend the inauguration ceremony of an artificial footballground in Hanoi .

Vietnam wants to have more chances to learn experiences from and cooperate with the world's renowned football clubs and teams, PresidentTriet said.

He also thanked the FIFA President for his assistance to develop the Vietnamese soccer, saying he hoped that Vietnam will be able to play a friendly match with the Brazilian national squad in 2010 on the occasion ofthe 1,000 th anniversary of the capital city of Hanoi .

FIFA always provides technical and financial support for football federations of many countries, including Vietnam , the FIFA Presidentnoted.

He said he believed that the Vietnamese football will rise to higherrankings regionally and internationally.

He also expressed his hope that Vietnam will be among the most developed football countries in Asia in the future.-Enditem
