Decent Work National Program agreement 2008 - 2010 signed

SANA'A, 31 July (Saba) - The three parties of work signed here on Wednesday the agreement of the Decent Work National Program 2008 - 2010.

The agreement identifies the priorities and the expected outcomes of the program that has been developed under the UN's support for the national efforts to achieve the national development goals.

The agreement was signed by Minister of Social Affaires and Labor Amat al-Razaq Hummad from the government side, chairman of the Yemeni Confederation of Labor Unions (YCLU) Mohammed al-Jedri on behalf of laborers and Chairman of the General Federation of Commercial and Industrial Chambers Mohammed Abdu Saeed in the presence of theRegional Director of the International Labor Organization (ILO) Beirut Bureau Nada al-Nashef.

After signing the document, Hummad emphasized the country's commitment to achieve social justice and a productive effective environment through affirmative relations among the three parties of work.

The Decent Work National Program represents an executive action plan and a strategic frame for the ILO's interventions and also shows the commitment of the government, labor organizations and employers, in cooperation with the ILO, to provide decent and fruitful work opportunities for men and women under conditions of safety, justiceand dignity.

Yemen is the third country signed this agreement after Jordan and Syria. Moreover, Yemen has signed 29 agreements of the ILO since its accession to the organization.

The signature coincided with the conclusion of the workshop on the National Strategy for Employment organized by Ministry of Social Affaires and Labor in collaboration with ILO.
