CBY: Budget of commercial and Islamic banks increased up to 1.3 trillion

SANA'A, July 30 (Saba)- An unified budget of commercial and Islamic banks in Yemen increased up to 1.3 trillion during first half of this year compared to YR 1.1 trillion in same period of last year, a new report of Central Bank of Yemen (CBY) said.

According to the report, the total of the foreign assets of the banks also raised up the same period to YR 177 billion against YR 273 billion for same period of lastyear.

The report revealed decrease of the banks' reserves at 9 percent.

Meanwhile, the CBY said the monetary reserves of foreign currency increased up to $ 8.2 billion during first half of 2008 compared $ 7.5 billion in same period of2007.

The budget of the central bank raised up to 1.7 trillion until June of this yearcompared to YR 1.5 trillion in June of 2007, the report said.
