Int`l community to support Yemen to complete reforms, Torlot says

SANA'A, March 10
(Saba) - The international community will focus in New York Yemen friends' meeting
on supporting
Yemen to complete reforms, British ambassador to Yemen Tim Torlot has said.
The British diplomat told the weekly 26 September that the international community
would provide financial and technical assistance to the Yemeni government to gain
advantage
from the granted funds to achieve development programs and combating poverty,
unemployment and terrorism.
Torlot voiced his optimism about the current arrangements for the New York meeting
to be held on 24 September, expecting that the efforts made by the government in
areas
of economic reforms, peace in Sa'ada, launching national dialog would encourage the
donors and international community to present full support to stability and
development
in Yemen.
The meeting to be presided over by Yemen, Britain and Saudi Arabia will discuss
four main themes, the first one is the political issue including the national
dialog, coming
election and the situation in Sa'ada, Torlot said.
Economic theme will show the progress made by the Yemeni government in economic
reform program agreed upon with the World Bank (WB), Yemeni economic problems
resulted from
the reduction of oil production and price, Yemeni manpower access to foreign
markets, combating corruption, investment obstacles and the donors' roles in
tackling such issues.
The third theme will focus on the development issues, particularly preparing the
five-year plan for 2011 - 2015 and reducing poverty rates in the country in
addition to
talking about new mechanisms to enhance international financings presented by WB and
the USA in cooperation with the traditional donors and GCC's states.
The security theme, the fourth one, which is a high priority in the New York
meeting, will deal with new policies to fight against extremism and terrorism.
The British diplomat welcomed the Saudi intent to host another ministerial meeting
for Yemen's friends early in 2011 to continue discussions on supporting Yemen in
political,
economic and development areas.
