Pakistan bans export of sugar with immediate effect
Islamabad, July 26 PPI: Pakistan's Commerce Ministry was on Saturday directed to immediately ban the export of sugar.
A direction to this effect was given by Daily Economic Monitoring Committee which met here today under chairmanship of Finance Minister Syed Naveed Qamar. It also directed Commerce Ministry to notify removal of duty on import of sugar by private sector in consideraton of increased domestic consumption and in order to stabilizeits price in the country.
While reviewing existing wheat stock position, the Committee said it was ``comfortable'' and directed Ministry of Food & Agriculture to import further wheat to meet increased domestic requirements.
