Yemeni youth take action to create better future

SANA'A, Aug. 11 (Saba)- A symposium
has been organized in Sana'a for young Yemeni alumni of U.S. educational exchange
programs,
the U.S.
Embassy in Sana'a has said in a statement.
''During the symposium, entitled "Visions for a Better Future," alumni presented
essays identifying the greatest challenges facing their society and describing how
youth
could contribute to building a better future'', the embassy explained.
The essays focused on improving the educational system in Yemen, eradicating
corruption and strengthening the rule of law.
The alumni later divided into groups to design community service projects
addressing these issues. These projects will receive funding from the U.S. Embassy
and will be
implemented by the alumni themselves.
The Charge d'Affaires of the U.S. Embassy, Angie Bryan, and the Prime Deputy
Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mohyadeen al-Dhabbi, opened the symposium and
encouraged the alumni
to play a leading role in building a better future for Yemen.
Bryan affirmed that the U.S. Embassy and others in the international community,
including those involved in the "Friends of Yemen" process, are ready to support
the efforts
of Yemeni youth in achieving their visions, and al-Dhabbi underscored the importance
of education in preparing Yemen's next generation of leaders.
