Mujawar: Food security is a national strategic priority

SANA'A, Aug. 09 (Saba) -
Prime Minister Ali Mujawar said on Monday food security is a national strategic
priority and
the government pays more attention to it due to its relationship to the national
security and community stability.
At the launch of the food security rationalization symposium, he said the
significance of food security stems from its ability to cope with repercussions of
sudden local,
regional and international crises.
He pointed to the food and financial crises that have shaken the world in the last
three years.
The government has made a giant stride in establishing long-term solutions to
ensure sustainable national food security to cope with sudden developments and
crises, he said.
Work is underway in full swing to prepare a draft national food security strategy
by experts and specialists from the concerned authorities in association with
international
organizations, he made clear.
The strategy will form a comprehensive national framework for food security
legislative, structural and investment issues, said Mujawar.
Furthermore, he highlighted highly efficient and sustainable measures to contain
the repercussions of the recent economic turmoil and fall of the national currency
against
the U.S. dollar.
He voiced confidence that the private sector will assume its responsibility towards
achieving the concept of food security through contributing to the strategic
economic
stockpile and commitment to positive competition.
At the end, he affirmed that rationalization is the duty of all towards food
security in the country.
