President Saleh donates YR 100 mln to support cancer patients

SANA'A, Aug. 08 (Saba)
- Vice President Abdu Rabo Mansour Hadi announced on Sunday that President Ali
Abdullah
Saleh has donated YR 100 million to support the cancer patients.
This came during a ceremony to launch the national campaign for supporting the
cancer patients, organized by the National Cancer Control Foundation (NCCF) under
the sponsorship
of President Ali Abdullah Saleh.
In the ceremony, Hadi pointed out in his speech that there preparations at all
levels ,topped by the political leadership ,with the aim of starting the
establishment of
five centers to treat this disease and cancer tumors in the provinces of Hadramout,
Aden, the capital Sana'a, Taiz, Ibb and Hodeidah.
The work is indeed underway to accomplish these vital projects, which represent a
special importance in the health and medical aspect, Hadi added.
He hoped that the Parliament completes the tax law on tobacco by adding ten Ryials
on each pack of cigarettes to contribute to address and combat cancer. He noted in
this
regard to a proposal to add a tax of certain percentage on mobile phone contacts.
For his part, the NCCF's Chairman of Board of Trustees, Abdul Weasea Hail Saeed,
reviewed phases of the foundation's establishment.
He pointed out that since its establishment, in 2002, the Foundation has provided a
lot of medical assistance, treatments and very expensive medicines for free,
especially
in the field of breast cancer.
The number of treated cases has reached 53 000 cases of cancer at a cost of YR 500
million, Saeed noted, calling on everyone to contribute in supporting the national
campaign
to combat cancer.
