on-campus reception was held on July 20

Washington (VNA) – A on-campus reception was held on July 20 at Portland State
University (PSU) to welcome another 22 students who join the Intel Corp.-sponsored
Vietnam Scholars Programme this year.

According to the Portland Business Journal issued on July 19, Intel Corp. has
extended the Vietnam Scholars Programme the company offers in conjunction with PSU.

California-based Intel will put another 2.5 million USD into the programme, which
provides two-year scholarships to Vietnamese students. The programme trains
students who could return to work in Intel’s largest global assembly and test
site, in Ho Chi Minh City .

The paper added that last year, 28 students participated in the programme in which
Intel invested 2 million USD.

Apart from electrical or mechanical engineering programmes, students also take
English, culture and engineering classes in an eight-week bridge programme to
prepare them for the fall term at PSU.

Rick Howarth, General Manager of Intel Products Vietnam, described the scholars
programme as Intel's contribution to Vietnam 's educational development as well
as Intel's strategy to train personnel.

He expressed the hope that scholars winners would become the key of Intel
Vietnam.-Enditem
