Mottaki: Stability in Afghanistan brings region stability
Kabul, July 21, IRNA – Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki in a meeting with a number of Afghan political personalities here said that stability in Afghanistan is the ground for stability in the whole region.
Mottaki said that using regional capacities is the best way to solve regional problems and all should help to remove problems and nobody should create obstacles in this way.
He reminded that Kabul International Meeting is the first world meeting with 70 officials from different countries with Afghan officials management and we hope the meeting take steps towards Afghan and regional nations' interests.
Mottaki continued that Iran and Afghanistan, in recent years, have held bilateral, trilateral, and quadlateral meetings in the foreign ministers level to define framework for regional meetings.
Concerning relations between the two countries, he said that the two sides have agreed to hold next joint economic commission this fall.
Referring to bilateral economic cooperation, Mottaki said cooperation in the fields of transit, transportation and railroad has a bright future.
Chairman of Afghanistan Senate Sebghatollah Mojaddadi, for his part, underlined Iran’s good will and brotherhood concerning Afghans and expressed hope that with Iran’s participation in the Kabul Meeting, good results come from the conference in direction of both nations' interests.
Former Afghanistan President reminded that Iran has always been a supporter for Afghans, especially during jihad and resistance period and the Afghans appreciated the help.
Mojaddadi criticized those who entered Afghanistan with slogan of fight against terrorism, but had no achievements and added that for fighting against terrorism we should know its roots and causes.
Member of House of Representatives from Badakhshan province Burhanuddin Rabbani, for his part, called ties between the two neighbors very deep upon common language, religion, culture, history and geography.
He continued that when Afghanistan was occupied by the Red Army, Iranian nation and government supported Afghan jihad and today they have an active participation in rebuilding and providing security for Afghanistan.
Rabbani also condemned bloody twin blasts in Zahedan last Thursday.
Referring to Kabul conference, Rabbani called regional cooperation useful for Afghanistan and added that with no doubt countries of the region know regional problems better than others.
