Donors ready to support establishing Yemeni Science Museum



PARIS, July 18 (Saba) - Several representatives of donor countries
and organizations and companies have affirmed their readiness to
support the project of National Museum of Sciences Yemen intends to
establish.

Donors' support came after the opening of the roundtable's
activities by Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research
Saleh Basurra and Director-General of UNESCO Koichiro Matsuura in
the French capital, Paris. The UNESCO-organized roundtable aimed to
mobilize requisite assistance for establishing the museum.

Representatives of the European international foundations, Arab Gulf
states, petroleum companies in Yemen and several businessmen, who
have taken place in the roundtable, voiced their readiness to
contribute to financing establishment of the museum's building, some
of its wings and provide a number of its necessary equipments.

The minister Basurra has showed key goals of the project that the
government intends to establish for such as spreading the scientific
culture among Yemenis and reinforcing the youth's attention on
science and scientific research in various fields.

Moreover, the minister demonstrated the steps Yemeni government has
exerted in coordination with UNESCO including the implementation of
many administrative, technical and scientific procedures.

Worth mentioning, the museum would be built on 20,000 square
kilometers with an estimated cost of $6 million.
