Legislations required for Yemen's accession to WTO discussed

SANA'A, June 21(Saba) - The General Policies Committee on Yemen's accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO) discussed on Monday package of legislations required to be approved by the government within the accession process.

The committee stressed in this regard the need to accelerate the completion of the
legislations package in order to present them to the Cabinet for discussion and
completing
the legal and constitutional procedures before the eighth meeting of the Working
Group on Yemen's accession to the WTO in next July in Geneva.
The legislations package includes 13 draft laws, regulations and resolutions,
including bills currently before the parliament, such as the laws of national
product protection,
copyright protection, and arbitration.
The competent ministries and agencies confirmed the completion of reviewing the
rest of required laws included in this package according to the timetable within
the completion
of requirements for the accession.
On another hand, the committee got acquainted with the report of Minister of
Industry and Trade on the results of the World Trade Center - Geneva (WTC)'s team
to Yemen recently
and the positive results of this visit.
Such visits aim to confirm the private sector's important role in working with the
government to support Yemen's accession to the WTO, the reported pointed out.
