Tajik MP: UN to be discredited by adopting more anti-Iran resolution

Dushanbe, June 19, IRNA – A member of Tajik parliament said Saturday that the United Nations would lose its credit by adopting more resolutions against Iran.

Under Secretary General of the Islamic Renaissance Party of Tajikistan (Nahzati Islomi Tojikiston) Omar Husseini told IRNA that the UN Security Council would damage its credit as well as that of the UN worldwide if it passed more resolutions against Iran for its peaceful nuclear activities.

Such moves would also lead to damage the influence and position of both the Council and the UN at the international arena, said the Tajik MP.

He made the remarks condemning UNSC’s Resolution 1929 against Iran which was adopted on June 9 under severe pressures by the US and the Zionist lobby.

Referring to the UN sanctions against Iran as “unfair,” Husseini said the only specialized center to examine nuclear issues worldwide is the International Atomic Energy Agency which has not, so far, provided an evidence to prove that Iran violated its international obligations regarding its peaceful nuclear activities.

Husseini added that the Islamic world would become pessimistic about the US and Europe for the way they were dealing with Iran’s nuclear issue despite of claiming to be democratic entities./end
