Envoy: Lebanon will defend Iran’s nuclear rights

Tehran, June 1, IRNA – Lebanon’s ambassador to Tehran, Zein Moussaoui, said that his country, as the current head of the United Nations Security Council will defend Iran’s nuclear rights.

Talking to IRNA on the sidelines of the meeting of the committee to follow up agreements reached in the 6th Iran-Lebanon Joint Economic Cooperation Commission, he said Lebanon will resist all pressures and sanctions being exercised against Iran and will remain by Tehran’s side and support it.

He stressed that Iran, like any other world country, has the right to gain access and make use of nuclear technology.

The Lebanese ambassador said that Iran never pursued military purposes by enriching uranium and had only peaceful objectives in mind.

He further described the recent declaration signed in Tehran by Iran, Brazil and Turkey as an important political move which would help solve the Iranian nuclear issue through peaceful means and said his country viewed Iran’s progresses with a positive attitude./end
