Russian Justice Ministry blacklists National-Socialist Society.
MOSCOW, May 27 (Itar-Tass) - The Russian Justice Ministry added the
National-Socialist Society (NSO) to the official list of extremist public
and religious organizations, whose activity is banned in the territory of
the country, spokeswoman for the Prosecutor General's Office Marina
Gridneva told Itar-Tass on Wednesday.
The decision to blacklist the NSO followed a ruling by the Russian
Supreme Court. Earlier, Prosecutor General Yuri Chika asked the Court to
ban the activity of the organization.
The Supreme Court reviewed Chaika's statement in camera.
"The court ascertained that the organization had no official
registration. It comprised grassroots in Moscow, St Petersburg, the Altai
territory, the Astrakhan, Belgorod, Volgograd, Voronezh, Kaluga, Kirov,
Murmansk, Novokuznetsk, Novosibirsk, Nizhny Novgorod, Omsk, Orenburg,
Samara, Sverdlovsk, Tomsk and Chelyabinsk regions, the Khanty-Mansi
Autonomous Area and Great Britain, Belarus, Canada and Estonia," Gridneva
said.
"The actual objectives set by the NSO were to seize power in the
country, change the groundwork of the Constitutional order and create a
unitary state along the principles of supremacy of the Russian nation, in
violation of rights, freedoms and legitimate interests of the person and
citizens depending on nationality.
"The leaders and members of this organization practiced the commission
of audacious and cynical crimes against persons of Asian or Caucasus
descent with the purpose of drawing public attention and fanning ethnic
hate and strife in the society, which was to have resulted in the
destabilization of the situation in Russia.
"The NSO actively propagated National Socialism, similar to the
ideology of the nazi Germany, which reflected the superiority of person by
his nationality.
"Ideological groundwork of the organization can be found in writings
by leaders of Germany's National Socialist German Workers' Party (Main
Kampf by A.Hitler, the Myth of the 20th Century by Rosenberg, etc.)
"NSO leaders set up paramilitary formations and arranged training in
hand-to-hand and cold steel combat and shooting practices.
NSO members have been realizing the illegal objectives of this
organization by committing extremist crimes for several years," the
spokeswoman said.
The NSO became the 12th extremist organization banned in Russia. The
list begins with the National Bolshevik party. It includes the Taganrog
Jehovah Witnesses group and the Tablighi Jamaat international religious
association. Participants in these organizations are subject to criminal
persecution in Russia.
