President Saleh receives Hamas political head Masha'al

SANA'A, July 14 (Saba) - President Ali Abdullah Saleh received here on Sunday the delegation of Hamas presided by head of the political bureau Khaled Masha'al who is currently visiting Yemen.

During the meeting, Masha'al briefed Saleh on the latest developments in Palestine, particularly the tragic situation in Gaza strip that is suffering from an Israeli blockaded and the progress of the truce between Hamas and Israel in addition to theexerting efforts for dialogue and achieving reconciliation between Hamas and Fatah.

The meeting also discussed a number views for achieving the Palestinian reconciliation and heal the rift inside the Palestinian people in addition to endthe Israeli blockade imposed on the Palestinian people in Gaza.

Masha'al expressed his appreciation of president Saleh's attitudes that support thePalestinian people, haling the efforts of Saleh to end the Palestinian dispute.

For his part, President Saleh accentuated again the Yemen's support for the Palestinian people, confirming the importance of reinforcing the Palestinianunification.

He also renewed Yemen's request to end the unjust Israeli blockade on thePalestinian people in Gaza strip.

Then, president Saleh answered the journalists' questions in a press conference held after the meeting, saying "The Arab nation should not watch the Palestinian peoplesuffering from such unfair blockade, we must seek solutions".

He added that we exchanged some ideas about launching a new initiative along with some Arab countries and friend foreign countries about ending the blockadecontinuing the truce.

The second issue we discussed is regarding healing the rift among the Palestinianfactions, topped between Fatah and Hamas, Saleh said.

"We put forward proposals included the support of the Arab league and some Arab countries such as Syria, Egypt, Sudan and Saudi Arabia for ending the Palestiniansuffering", he revealed.

Moreover, Saleh called on Qatar to host a Palestinian meeting to end theirdisagreement as it did successfully with Lebanese.
