”UPDATED VERSION OF MADRID DOCUMENT IS BASE TO COME TO COMPROMISE”, CZECH FM

Baku, May 10 (AzerTAc). As earlier reported, on 13-14 May the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic Jan Kohout is expected to visit Azerbaijan.
“I hope, the Madrid Document updated by OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs late January current year in Sochi gives basis to reach compromise”, Jan Kohout stated. At his words, the only way to solve the Azerbaijan-Armenia conflict peacefully is the direct negotiations based on the revised Madrid principles.
Mr. Kohout said: “We welcome activation of the dialogue between President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and his Armenian colleague. The European Union will further support both sides in this context, as any move will have positive impact on strengthening of security in region and its progress”.
“Last year the European Union has proposed a special “Eastern Partnership” project on this purpose. The Project is a platform on mutually beneficial cooperation between Azerbaijan and Armenia”, the Czech foreign minister underlined.
