Bachieng Chaleunsouk remains 300 poor families
(KPL) Over 300 families are classified as living under the poverty line this considers a few of poor families remaining in Bachieng Chaleunsouk district, the southernmost province of Champassak.
This is thanks to the gross domestic production of the district reaching237.09 billion kip over the past six months, up by 5.21 percent over last year's corresponding period.
The average income per capita was US$583 and the economic growth stood at 11 percent, said Mr Bounsou Khouvanthong, Chief of Bachieng Chaleunsouk district. The number of poor people has been dramatically decreased thanks to the fruitful district campaign on thepromotion of jobs.
This was led to the farmers' change of old style of agricultural productionto up-to-date production as industrial production.
In addition the campaign has spurred on local people to work at localcompanies.
Now the district has 2,307 permanent workers and 1,574 seasonal workers, whose income ranges from 500,000 kip to 1,200,000 kip per month, no less than 700,000 kip on average. Accordingly, this leaves only 353 poorfamilies in the district.
