IRNA-KCNA to bolster cooperation

Tehran, May 5, IRNA -- The Democratic People's Republic of Korea official on Tuesday conferred with Deputy Managing Director of the Islamic Republic News Agency on ways to promote cooperation between IRNA and Korean Central News Agency.

Visiting Director General for Information and Media at the Democratic People's Republic of Korea Foreign Ministry Jung Yong Chul discussed ways to develop cooperation between IRNA and KCNA with Gholam-Hossein Eslamifard.

IRNA and KCNA are willing to expand cooperation on true reflection of realities vis-a-vis the propaganda campaign of western media against Iran and the DPRK.

Highlighting IRNA’s capabilities on compilation and dissemination of domestic and foreign news, Eslamifard said that it is about 11 years that the two sides inked memorandum of understanding (MoU) on cooperation and IRNA is ready to put its invaluable services at the disposal of Korean Central news agency based on a new agreement.

There exists good relations between the two news agencies in the context of various news associations such as the Non-Aligned News Agencies Pool (NANAP) and the Organization of Asia-Pacific News Agencies (OANA), Eslami-fard said.

Expansion of professional cooperation between the two news agencies would help expand political, economic and cultural ties between the two countries, he said.

The Democratic People's Republic of Korea official, for his part, voiced satisfaction with remarkable progress and developments at IRNA and said the DPRK supports expansion of relations between the two news agencies and is ready to exchange professional delegates to help expand such cultural ties.

The current visit to Tehran will help deepen relations between the two countries, he said adding that mass media in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea properly cover Iran’s economic and industrial developments being carried by KCNA office in Tehran./end
