AZERBAIJAN MARKS 16th ANNIVERSARY OF ITS COOPERATION WITH NATO

Baku, May 4 (AzerTAc). Azerbaijan`s capital has hosted an international conference to mark the 16th anniversary of the country`s cooperation with NATO.
The conference, entitled The role of NATO in stability and security in Europe, also marked the 61st anniversary of the Alliance.
Speaking to the event, Romanian ambassador in Baku Nikolae Ureke voiced his country`s support of Azerbaijan-NATO cooperation.
“As a coordinator of Azerbaijan-NATO relations, we back the strengthening of the cooperation between Baku and Brussels.”
“Our embassy in Baku has two major goals, and one of them is ensuring Azerbaijan`s maximum approach with the Alliance, while another is raising the awareness of people in Azerbaijan`s regions about NATO`s role.”
Ureke also said Romania supports Azerbaijan`s fulfillment of NATO Individual Partnership Action Plan as well as the country`s participation in global peaceful operations and energy programs.
The event brought together representatives from Azerbaijan`s Foreign Affairs Ministry, NGOs, diplomatic corps, local and foreign experts.
