RUSSIAN AND CAUCASIAN RELIGIOUS LEADERS MEET IN BAKU
Baku, April 26 (AzerTAc). Head of the Caucasian Muslims` Office Sheikhulislam Allahshukur Pashazadeh, Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia and Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II have met today in Azerbaijan`s capital on the sidelines of a summit of world leaders.
The chief of the Russian Orthodox Church touched on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, saying there had been good progress in the peace talks recently.
Patriarch Kirill praised the Azerbaijani and Armenian leaders` efforts as well as mediation of the Russian president on the dispute.
He said “such meetings help the political leaders”.
Pashazadeh praised the Russian Orthodox Church`s mediation efforts towards finding a peaceful solution to the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
The chief of the Caucasian Muslims` Office expressed confidence the dispute would be solved based on “justice and international legal norms”.
Karekin II said religious leaders “must make efforts for the sake of peace in the region”.
He also thanked the Russian Orthodox Church for its mediation efforts.
