BAVARIA ATTACHES ‘GREAT IMPORTANCE’ TO COOPERATION WITH AZERBAIJAN

Baku, April 23 (AzerTAc). “Bavaria attaches significant importance to cooperation with rapidly developing Azerbaijan. For us, Azerbaijan is a partner with great potential,” Bavaria`s Minister of Economic Affairs Emilia Muller told journalists.
She said “we are very surprised by the fact that Azerbaijan`s GDP had increased by 9, 3 percent amid global financial crisis.”
The Minister said as part of the trip she had “fruitful meetings”, and several agreements on bilateral cooperation were obtained.
They include, she added, how to expand bilateral cooperation in economic, education, construction, technology and other spheres, organize days of Azerbaijan`s economy in Bavaria and conduct exchange of students.
She underlined Bavarian companies carry out successful projects in Azerbaijan.
Ms. Muller said they also discussed an opening of Azerbaijan`s General Consulate in Munich, adding it would be beneficial for development of economic cooperation.
On the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, she stressed the necessity of resolving the conflict peacefully and on the basis of the principles of international law.
She praised the fact that Azerbaijan had accepted the updated version of the Madrid principles on settlement of the conflict.
“Resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict is also important for economic development in the region.”
