“ELECTRONIC MEDIA: STATE REGULATION AND PUBLIC CONTROL” CONFERENCE
Baku, April 22 (AzerTAc). A scientific-theoretical conference on “Electronic Media: State Regulation and Public Control” was organized by the Azerbaijan National Television and Radio Council on 21 April.
The conference was attended by representatives of President Administration, Members of Parliament, heads of national NGOs, news agencies, broadcasting agencies.
Chairman of National Television and Radio Council Nushiravan Maharramli said there are 8 republic broadcastings, 14 regional channels, 1 satellite broadcasting, 13 radio, 13 cable operators and 1 qualified channel in the country: “If there any necessity, then the number of republic broadcastings will be increased in the future. 3 republic broadcastings began functioning after establishment of National Television and Radio Council”, he underlined.
Addressing the conference, head of the President Administration`s public policy department Ali Hasanov noted that in Azerbaijan corresponding steps to improve activity of the electronic information means are undertaken.
The head of department of President Administration underlined that if we wish to transform the Azerbaijan society into one of the leaders in the world, we should invite to TV channels the leading persons of our country – known and accepted by the majority of the population. It will allow imparting high qualities inherent in them to the society.”
Having expressed hope that from this point of view discussions coming on action will be productive, Ali Hasanov wished success to the conference.
In discussions, speaking were MPs Fazil Gazanfaroglu, Ganira Pashayeva, Chairman of the Azerbaijan Press Council Aflatun Amashov and others who stressed topicality of the theme, making suggestions to improve activity of the TV channels, in particular, the private ones.
