AZERBAIJAN, US DISCUSS MILITARY COOPERATION
Baku, April 17 (AzerTAc). Azerbaijan`s Minister of Defense Safar Abiyev has today met U.S. Under Secretary of Defense for Policy Michele Flournoy.
They discussed prospects for developing the military cooperation between Azerbaijan and the US, and exchanged views over military and political situation in the South Caucasus, in particular the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
On the dispute, Abiyev said its remaining unresolved is “a source of tension” in the region.
“Ensuring peace in the region is impossible if Minsk group co-chairs do not increase pressure on Armenia. Otherwise Azerbaijan will have nothing to do but resorting to other means for liberating its occupied lands.”
Azerbaijan`s ambassador to the US Yashar Aliyev was present at the meeting.
