`POLITICAL PARTIES PLAY IMPORTANT ROLE IN DEMOCRACY BUILDING IN ANY COUNTRY`, PACE PRESIDENT

Baku, April 14 (AzerTAc). President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe Mevlut Cavusoglu met today here with the representatives of political parties.
First deputy executive secretary of the New Azerbaijan Party (YAP) Ali Ahmadov congratulated the guest on such high appointment and wished success. After gaining independence Azerbaijan attaches special importance to the integration into Europe and closely cooperates with the international structures, including the Council of Europe, Ahmadov underlined.
Political leaders spoke of the development of relations between Azerbaijan and PACE, acquisition of European values, development of democracy and expansion of cooperation to boost further protection of human rights and freedoms in the country.
The leaders also expressed hope for effective contribution by the Council of Europe for settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict, the most painful problem of Azerbaijan.
Mevlut Cavusoglu said the Council of Europe pays great attention to development of the relations with the member countries, as well as acceleration of democracy building processes in them.
PACE President promised to increase his efforts for settlement of Nagorno Karabakh dispute.
