Mottaki: Obama’s remarks means playing with fire

Tehran, April 14, IRNA – Iran’s Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki said that the recent remarks of the US President Barack Obama which entailed atomic threats against Iran were totally false and immature and were in fact sort of playing with fire.

Talking to reporters on the sidelines of the Wednesday meeting of the Iranian cabinet, he said many thought Obama would create a favorable atmosphere in the international chess game with his motto of change but now his recent behavour would eventually push him into a state of check-and-mate.

He said the international conference which will open in Tehran on Saturday on true disarmament will demonstrate the strong universal will on the issue.

Asked to comment on the details of the letter Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has sent to his American counterpart, he said the president will elaborate on it soon and provide necessary information to the press.

As for the nuclear security conference in Washington, he said he will comment on it after comprehensive studies on its results.

Referring to his phone conversation with the IRIB correspondent Hamid Ma’asouminezhad who in currently under arrest in Italy, he said he had discussed the reporter’s conditions in the prison.

He pointed out that he had earlier talked to another Iranian imprisoned in France, adding that he is scheduled to talk with another Iranian in Milan prisons named Damirchilou on the phone today.

Mottaki said all Iranian bodies related to the issue like Iran’s embassy in Rome and consulate in Milan are following the case of the two Iranians in Italian prisons./end
