Baku, 13 April (AzerTAc). Chairman of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) Mevlut Cavusoglu has arrived in Azerbaijan`s capital for a visit aimed at exploring prospects for cooperation between the country and the organization.
In a brief talk with journalists at the Heydar Aliyev international airport upon his arrival, Cavusoglu said he visited Azerbaijan many times, but “it is my first trip here in the capacity of PACE chief”.
Cavusoglu will hold meetings at the Parliament, Foreign Affairs Ministry and Azerbaijan University of Languages.
“While in Azerbaijan I will have a number of meetings to discuss the issues of the bilateral relations and cooperation,” the PACE chief told journalists.
On the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Cavusoglu vowed the dispute would be among key priorities during his visits to other regional countries, including Armenia, Georgia and Russia.
He said talks were underway to set up a sub-committee on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict at the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.
The Azerbaijan visit will also see Cavusoglu pay tribute to national leader Heydar Aliyev and travel to Ganja, the country`s second largest city.
