West cooperation proposal was request for surrender: Iran Embassy

Berlin, April 11, IRNA – Iran’s embassy in Copenhagen, capital of Denmark, in a reply to NATO secretary general article, said that the west proposal to Iran was actually a request for surrender.

NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen wrote an article last Wednesday which contained misunderstandings, hostility and baseless accusations against Iran’s peaceful nuclear and missile activities.

Referring to the close relations of Rasmussen with former US President George Bush and former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair, invaders of Iraq and Afghanistan, the embassy said that Rasmussen like some others, who take advantage of every opportunity to promote their warmongering viewpoints, has resorted to pre-assumptions, incorrect remarks and deceit.

It said the secretary general had claimed that several hidden nuclear facilities in Iran exist, while Iran’s nuclear program has always been under supervision of IAEA inspectors in the last seven years, so when the inspectors did not detect any hidden facilities, how can Rasmussen say such things decisively?

Referring to another claim of Rasmussen about level of enriched uranium which is higher than peaceful use level, the embassy said that he is certainly referring to the latest enrichment of 20 percent, which is for use in Tehran reactor for producing radioisotopes for medical usage which is absolutely peaceful.

Concerning the claim on rejecting west cooperation proposal by Iran, the embassy wrote that the so-called proposal by the US and a number of European countries was merely a request to sell goods and services to Iran.

And for this, they asked Iran to suspend its peaceful nuclear program. In this deal, Iran had no right to choose even goods or dealers, so this proposal was a full surrender request.

Rasmussen had written about Iranian missiles abilities to reach Turkey, Bulgaria, Greece and so on, while all Iranian missile programs are defensive, the embassy wrote.

Reminding missile attacks, which Rasmussen's friends gave to Saddam Hussein, is a painful memory and those events won’t happen again, the reply went on to say.

Concerning another claim for not following the UN Security Council resolutions, the reply said that these resolutions are contradictory with Non-Proliferation Treaty which gives the right to develop nuclear technology for peaceful use and Iran has been doing exactly what the treaty has authorized it to do.
