US threats for imposing sanctions on Iran, irrational

Islamabad, April 3, IRNA –Pakistani analyst opined that US threats for imposing sanctions on Iran’s nuclear program are irrational and illogical.

“Iran being the signatory to the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) can use nuclear energy for peaceful means,” said renowned Pakistani Defence analyst Jamshed Ayaz Khan, talking to IRNA, here on Friday.

Threats for imposing sanctions, Jamshed Ayaz said, are never rational against peaceful nuclear program of any country. Peaceful nuclear program is right of Iran, besides being signatory to NPT it can use nuclear energy.

Commenting on news report that six world powers agree to start work on Iran sanctions, Jamshed Ayaz Khan said that even big issues could be solved through talks.

“It doesn’t matter If powers are agreeing to start work on Iran sanctions as Iran is signatory and issues are amicably solved on table,” he said adding that for the cause of national interest every country has full right to defend itself.

It would not be out of place to mention here that reportedly six world powers, including Russia and China, agreed to start drawing up new sanctions on Iran over its nuclear programme.

The news report further mentioned that representatives of Britain, the United States, France and Germany had reached agreement with Beijing and Moscow during a conference call and work would start on preparing a United Nations Security Council resolution in the next few days.

It may be mentioned here that Iran being the signatory to the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) can use nuclear energy for peaceful means, however, the US and West have allegedly been suspecting on Iran’s nuclear program saying that Iran is trying to build an atomic bomb, which Iran has strongly denied repeatedly.

Iran has repeatedly says its program to enrich uranium is aimed at producing electricity, and it has refused to halt the process./end
