TEHRAN HOSTS INTERNATIONAL NOVRUZ CELEBRATIONS
Baku, March 27 (AzerTAc). First-ever international ceremonies to celebrate Novruz have kicked off in the Iranian capital, Tehran.
Novruz has recently been declared an international holiday by UN General Assembly.
Iran`s FM Manouchehr Mottaki and President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad have addressed the event.
Azerbaijan`s Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov, who is leading a large governmental delegation for the festivities, will also deliver remarks at the ceremony.
The celebrations will tomorrow continue in the historical city of Shiraz, southern Iran.
Last year Novruz was included in the list of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, UNESCO.
