SOCAR AND KEPPEL COOPERATION DISCUSS BAKU SHIPYARD
Baku, March 18 (AzerTAc). President of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic Rovnag Abdullayev met Thursday with President of the Singapore`s Keppel Corporation Limited Lee Boon Yang to discuss construction of the shipyard in Azerbaijan.
SOCAR Chief Abdullayev said preparatory work for construction of the shipyard in Baku had been completed within short time. He noted the project, which is going to boost Azerbaijan`s transit and cargo traffic capacity, will propel cooperation between the two companies into a new era.
Mr. Yang noted his company has operated in Azerbaijan since 1997. The Caspian Shipyard Company, the joint company established by the SOCAR and Keppel Corporation, has implemented important drilling and construction projects. He expressed confidence that the new shipyard is going to be the region`s largest and most modern facility.
Abdullayev pointed out the shipbuilding yard would build and repair ships for other Caspian littoral states as well.
