IRIB Head meets with S.Korean cultural, media officials

Tehran, March 14, IRNA – Head of IRIB Ezatollah Zarghami, who is in Seoul at the invitation of his South Korean counterpart, met with cultural and media officials separately and discussed cooperation grounds between Tehran and Seoul in the audio and visual media field.

Zarghami met with head of South Korean state Broadcasting (KBS), in which the officials of the organization presented a report on production of programs in KBS.

President of KBS Kim In-Kyu, by referring to the IRIB position in the Asia region, said that cooperation and transfer of technical and quality experiences can help the two nations to get know each other better.

Zarghami, by referring to existing potentials of IRIB, said that considering cultural commonalities between the two countries, the state media of both countries can have good cooperation upon historical and cultural principles of the two nations.

In a meeting with South Korean Minister of Culture, Tourism and Youth, Zarghami referred to the basic role of the media in promoting culture and values of the nations.

Yu In-Chon, by referring to the excellent position of Iran in the fields of radio, TV and cinema welcomed expansion of media cooperation between the two countries and said that Iranian rich culture in producing thought and its dissemination makes exchanging information and experiences and media cooperation between Tehran and Seoul necessary.

Zarghami also met with Head of South Korean Cultural promotion and Programming Center Lee Ji-Wung and got acquainted with activities of the center.

Referring to the export of Iranian broadcasting productions to over 50 countries, Zarghami expressed IRIB’s readiness to present Iranian film and TV series to South Korean broadcasting network.

Zarghami, in a meeting with chairman of communication commission, said that cooperation between the two countries in the field of media and communication technology could be a joint effort to increase quality of broadcasting programs in east and west of Asia.

The South Korean official, by welcoming cultural cooperation between the two broadcasting networks, said that such cooperation could be a pattern for other members of Asia-Pacific Radio-TV Union./end
