HASHIMOV CLAIMS FIRST-ROUND WIN AT AMBER TOURNAMENT
Baku, March 13 (AzerTAc). The first round of annual Amber chess tournament in Nice, France, has marked been a success for Azerbaijan`s Vugar Hashimov who beat Cuba`s Leinier Dominguez.
Hashimov secured the win on the 48th move.
The competition sees participation of the world`s top grandmasters, including Magnus Carlsen, Levon Aronian, Leinier Dominguez, Boris Gelfand, Alexander Grischuk, Sergey Karjakin, Vladimir Kramnik, Vasily Ivanchuk, Ruslan Ponomariov, Jan Smeets and Peter Svidler.
The total prize-fund of the tournament is €216,000.
