SIX AZERI CHESS PLAYERS MAKE SUCCESSFUL START TO EUROPEAN CROWN RUN
Baku, March 8 (AzerTAc). The first round of European chess championship in Rijeka, Hungary, has marked success for six of Azerbaijan`s 15-strong team.
Rauf Mammadov, Nijat Mammadov, Gadir Huseynov, Eltaj Safarli, Namig Guliyev and Gulnar Mammadova (women`s event) secured their first wins to launch a successful run for the European title.
Four other Azeri players have been held to draw, while the first round saw the rest five lose their openers.
