CHIEF OF AZERBAIJAN CASPIAN SHIPPING COMPANY REPORTS ON PROGRESS ACHIEVED
Baku, March 6 (AzerTAc). Chief of the Azerbaijan State Caspian Sea Shipping Company Aydin Bashirov held a press conference at the New Azerbaijan Party`s headquarters to report on the progress achieved by the company.
Bashirov said the shipping company has upgraded its facilities in order to expand the capacity of the Eurasia transport corridor.
According to him, the company transported 8,028,000 tons of cargo through the TRACECA transport corridor, up by 18% over the 2008 figure. The passenger conveyance constituted 10,007,000.
The average salaries made up 320 manats.
Aydin Bashirov pointed out the company purchased Koroglu, Dede Gorgud, Zangazur, Shusha and Jabbar Jabbarli tankers from the Krasnoye Sormovo shipyard and academician Zarifa Aliyeva and Garabagh ferries from Croatia`s Ulyanik shipyard. The company bought 14 new ships worth AZN 202,395,600 over the past seven years
Bashirov noted the shipyard will be built in Azerbaijan. The plant will meet Azerbaijan`s domestic needs and export the vessels.
