IAEA must remain impartial or it will lose credibility: Leader

TEHRAN, Mar. 1 (MNA) -- Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei said here on Sunday that the UN nuclear watchdog should remain impartial in dealing with Iran’s nuclear energy program, otherwise it will lose its credibility.

In a meeting with Iranian ambassadors to foreign countries, Ayatollah Khamenei stated that the International Atomic Energy Agency should not give in to pressure from the United States or other countries.

Yet some of the agency’s actions and reports show that this international body is not independent, he added.

He said Iran has always insisted that its nuclear energy program is being implemented to meet the country’s growing demand for energy, but the U.S., Britain, and the Zionist regime keep spreading lies about Iran’s nuclear program.

However, such lies will eventually backfire, Ayatollah Khamenei noted.

The Supreme Leader stated that Iran has made great progress in the field of nuclear energy and will eventually become self-sufficient in this technology.

He praised the country’s diplomatic achievements in the face of pressure and lies and said adhering to revolutionary principles is essential for effective diplomacy.
