FM spokesman: Rigi terrorist group had US support

Tehran, Feb 23, IRNA – Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mihman-Parast said that the terrorist group led by Abdolmalek Rigi was supported by the United States.

Making the remarks in his weekly press briefing session on Tuesday, he said the support of the US, as a country which boasts of defending human rights, for Rigi was a disgrace both for Washington and other countries claiming respect for human rights.

He said more details will be soon published on the arrest of Rigi the news of which was announced on Tuesday.

Mihman-Parast noted that Rigi was the ringleader of a terrorist group which is behind many crimes and killing of innocent people carried out with the objective of staging unrest in the country.

The Foreign Ministry spokesman also said the American support for Rigi was another proof to the fact that the real root of problems and insecurities in the region rested in foreign countries, stressing that all culprits responsible for these problems were guided from a spot 20 thousand kilometers away from Iran./end
