San Francisco, Feb. 16 (Jiji Press)--Japan's Bank of
Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ and affiliated U.S. commercial bank Union Bank said
Tuesday they will enhance their alliance in order to expand operations for
non-Japanese companies.
The two banks, both under the wing of Mitsubishi UFJ Financial
Group Inc. <8206>, will jointly market project finance products for power
and gas companies in North America under the MUFG brand.
"Both BTMU and Union Bank have extensive experience in structuring
complex financings for power and utility clients," said Grant Ahearn, head
of a new power and utility team created jointly by the banks.
"Customers will also benefit from the greater lending power of this
alliance," Ahearn said in a statement.
Union Bank is a subsidiary of UnionBanCal Corp., which is
