3-member delegation off to USA to finalize Boeing purchase deal

DHAKA, Bangladesh, June 24 (BSS)- A 3-member delegation led by Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser, in charge of the ministry of
civil aviation and tourism, Mahbub Jamil left here today for the
United States to finalize the deal for procurement of aircraft
from Boeing Company.

The other members of the delegation are Member of the Biman
Board of Management and Deputy Chief (Operations and Training) of
the Air Force Air Vice-Marshal Mohammad Enamul Bari and Managing
Director of Biman Bangladesh Airlines Ltd. Dr M A Momen.

It may be mentioned that Biman Bangladesh Airlines Ltd.
entered into two separate specific agreements with Boeing
Commercial Aircraft Company in Dhaka on 22 April last for
purchasing four 777- 3000 ER and four 787-8 aircraft.

Boeing Company invited Mahbul Jamil, who is also the chairman
of the Biman management board, for furnishing necessary
formalities to finalize the purchase deal.

The final agreements are likely to take place in Washington
D.C. on June 25 under the arrangement of the US State Department.

US Assistant Secretary of State Richard Voucher will address
the function to be attended by high officials from Biman
Bangladesh Airlines Ltd., US Department of Commerce, US Chamber
of Commerce, Members of Congress (Bangladesh Caucasus) and Exim
Bank.

Mahbul Jamil is expected to return home on June 30.
