AZERBAIJAN`S FIRST LADY AWARDED WITH ORDER OF LEGION OF HONOR

Baku, February 15 (AzerTAc). Azerbaijan`s First Lady, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, UNESCO and ISESCO Goodwill Ambassador Mehriban Aliyeva was awarded with the Officer rank of the Legion of Honor by the French President`s order.
French leader Nicolas Sarkozy has sent a congratulatory letter to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on the occasion, saying Mehriban Aliyeva was awarded with the order for outstanding service and loyalty to France.
Expressing delight with the good news on decorating Mrs. Aliyeva, Mr. Sarkozy stressed his special respect and honor to the Head of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.
Created in 1802 by Napoleon Bonaparte, the Legion of Honor is the highest award given by the French Republic for outstanding service to France, regardless of the social status or the nationality of the recipients.
The highest state award “Legion of Honor” has five ranks: Knights, Officers, Commanders, Grand Officers and Grand Crosses.
After analyzing personal information about the nominees the 11-member Award Commission allows awarding.
Mehriban Aliyeva`s awarding with the highest order of France once again proves that her public and patronage activity, invaluable contributions to the development of social, educational and cultural fields has gained boundless respect and honor not only in Azerbaijan, but also in the world.
