Mechanical Team tops Robot Contest 2010
Vientiane,Feb 11 (KPL)- Mechanical Team from Mechanical Engineering Faculty, National University of Laos, has won the 8th Robot Contest 2010 held at Poly-Technical College on Wednesday. The winner was awarded US$250 of cash prize.
The event was organized by the Faculty of Engineering, National University of Laos (NUOL) in cooperation with the Japanese Embassy in Laos.
There were eight teams participating in the competition with sixteen manually controlled and automatic robots.
The competitors include Soutsaka Institute and Lao-Germay Technical College, Lao-Japan Technical Training Centre, and faculties of Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer and Information Technology Engineering, and Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering from the National University of Laos. The first robot contest was held in 2002. From this year till 2008 the winner is Sniper Sigma 2 from Soutsaka Institute.
Also present at the event were Ambassador of Japan to Laos, Mr. Masaaki Miyashita, Director General of Higher Education Department, Ministry of Education, Dr. Phonephet Boupha, JICA’s Chief Representative, Mr. Hiroaki Takashima and Vice President of the National University of Laos, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Saykhong Saynasine.
